Edwin A. Dean

–

Huntersville, North Carolina

Edwin Alexander Dean, known to most as Deacon Dean, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2026. Deacon Dean was born on January 13, 1947 to Musa Bindu Korpu and Edwin Dean.

Deacon Dean grew up in Kakata, Liberia and graduated from Washington Booker Industrial Institute in 1968 with a certification in Accounting.

In his adult years, Deacon Dean moved to America in 1976 and started a career in Accounting. He later began working in the airline industry starting with Piedmont Airlines until it became American Airlines and retired in 2015.

Deacon Dean was a devoted father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who loved the Lord with his whole heart. He was baptized in 1992 at Apostolic Saints First Born Pentecostal Church in Brooklyn, New York. He was later ordained as a Deacon in 2001 at the same church and continued to operate in the position at Kingdom Harvest Bibleway Church.

He was an avid lover of sports, particularly soccer, football and basketball with his favorite teams being the Kansas City Chiefs and the Golden State Warriors. He was an awesome soccer player and enjoyed attending a Charlotte FC game when he had a chance. On any given Sunday, you would find him in his Patrick Mahomes jersey teasing others who weren't fans of the same team.

Deacon Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Dean, Musa Korpu, his daughter, Edwina McCrimmon, and his siblings, Emmanuel Cooper, Adeline Okerson, and Famatta Cooper.

He is survived by his daughters, Bindu Quinn and Temeka Wilson (Ralph), and Shawna Ford (Wilson). His grandchildren, DJ Martin, Devin Martin, Shane Quinn, Steven McCrimmon, Jr., Chandler Ford, Christopher Ford, Alexandria Wilson and Alivia Wilson. His godmother, Reverend Marie Mason (Rev. Abraham). He is also survived by his siblings, Albert Dean (Jean), and Charles Sevee, along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved, reminding us that God is always in control.
